Nugget Diner: Bacon for vegetarians.

Another trip to the Nugget Diner! I like to get an early start on weekends, so at 2:01 PM on Saturday I plodded into the Nugget Diner for breakfast. The diner was moderately full, about average for a midday Saturday. I got seated right away, then the waitress came over and said something to the effect of "I have to go get a shake started" and walked off. She eventually came back and took my order. I didn't ask about the shake and she didn't mention it again. I guess it worked out OK for her.

When I first visited the Nugget Diner, it was the veggie omelet that brought me there. I guess if you're some kind of vegetarian who only eats chickens before they hatch, this is the omelet you would get. Having tried the quasi-vegetarian way many times, today I ordered it again . . .      but with bacon.

Diner Review: Garden Cafe (a.k.a. "Nugget Diner")

Officially, this restaurant is known as the Garden Cafe. At least that's what it says on the menus. People generally refer to it, however, with the more accurate and descriptive name of "Nugget Diner." I like this name more, so that's what I'm calling it.

Oh, and if you're not from around here... it's called the Nugget Diner because the restaurant is in the Carson City Nugget casino.

Delicious breakfasts in Carson City, NV

I live in Carson City, Nevada, and I enjoy breakfast. Breakfasts of all kinds: from crappy gas station breakfast sandwiches to mediocre gas station breakfast sandwiches to the classiest eggs Benedict this fair town* has to offer. While seemingly lacking in everything besides methamphetamine, Carson City fortunately features a few decent breakfast choices. Some of them are not unique to Carson City or even to Nevada, while others are exclusively found here.

*Let's be honest; it's a city in name only.
