Places where you can find breakfast in Carson

...and some places where you can't. Now, when I say "breakfast," I mean breakfast foods. This includes breakfast sandwiches and the like, meaning that convenience stores are lumped in as "places." You might take issue with this, insisting that nothing purchased at a gas station convenience store is really even food. I see your point. But in the awesome and diverse realm of greasy breakfast foods, there can be no such discrimination. If it sells a premade, hot breakfast sandwich, it clears the bar for designation as a place where you can find breakfast.

So why even include convenience stores, when they all sell breakfast sandwiches anyway? Ah, but they don't! For example, you might think that every 7-11 offers breakfast sandwiches. You would be wrong. Someday, you will thank me for telling you this.

Had you not known, that day would have gone like this:

You wake up hung over and are at once pleased and dismayed to find that it's still technically morning. Pleased because this means if you can find your pants in time, you may have a shot at scoring a breakfast sandwich, and dismayed for every other reason.

Just 45 minutes later, you have pants on and are leaving the house or sidewalk where you woke up, headed for the 7-11 just a few blocks away. You plan to get some of their way-better-and-cheaper-than-Starbucks coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The coffee will be good, but the sandwich...

Oh, the sandwich.

You can already feel the oozing of the ultrahydrogenated saturated fat. Your heart palpitates at the mere thought of how much sodium this sandwich contains.

At last, the door of the 7-11. Stepping inside, it's cool and mildly humid. It smells like refrigerated plastic and heavily preserved packaged cakes. Anticipation for the breakfast sandwich only grows as you pour a coffee. The eerily golden, nutritionless bun. The disc of egg. Sausage, of some kind. Pasteurized process cheese food.

Everything your body needs. Everything your body craves.

Coffee in hand, you make your way over to the food warmer. Only it's not there. First you feel confusion, then racing up behind it from the pit of your stomach, fear. Blind panic sets in. Any rational thoughts about alternatives to that breakfast sandwich go out the window. There are no "alternatives." The breakfast sandwich is as fungible as crude oil.

There is no hope. Without a breakfast sandwich, hope is the refuge of fools.

So don't count on 7-11 for your breakfast sandwich needs. Consult this handy list before seeking breakfast in Carson.

This list is a work in progress, is being continually updated, and may not be 100% accurate. Come to think of it, that goes for anything else you read on this site.

  • Convenience stores:
    • 7-11:
      • Route 50 at Airport Rd. carries cold breakfast sandwiches and has a microwave.
      • Route 50 East at College Pkwy. does not generally carry breakfast sandwiches! There is a warmer, so it's possible that they have breakfast sandwiches sometimes. On the upside, a refill coffee here is only 75¢ including tax.
      • Route 395 (North Carson) and College Pkwy. - unknown, but their refill coffee is 99¢ PLUS tax! And they argue with you when you tell them it's only 75¢ at the other 7-11.
    • ARCO AM/PM:
      • Rt. 395 between 7th & 8th Sts. carries delicious preheated breakfast sandwiches and sometimes features a "buy a breakfast sandwich get a Tropicana orange juice for $0.50" bargain.
      • Rt. 50 at Lompa Ln. - Not sure about breakfast yet, but they do carry Martini in a Can and Gin & Tonic in a Can, which could serve as substitutes for breakfast Scotch if you're out of it.
      • Rt. 50 at Rt. 395 (intersection of Carson & William Sts.) didn't have breakfast sandwiches at 6:00 AM on a Sunday morning, but to be honest I can't remember much about that visit as I was more asleep than awake. This will need more investigation.
  • Restaurants (individual reviews forthcoming):
    • Cracker Box
    • Garden Cafe
    • Mom & Pop's 3rd and Carson Diner
    • Heidi's
    • Villa Basque Deli
